About Jeffrey Brewster, CFA
Jeffrey Brewster founded BT Valuation, Inc. to provide business owners and their advisors with the highest quality valuation services delivered with a practical, strategic perspective. With over 20 years of specialized experience in business valuation, Jeffrey has completed more than 1,500 valuations for both publicly traded and privately held companies.
Prior to founding BT Valuation, Jeffrey served as Director of Valuation Services at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, where he led the Texas market valuation team. He has also held leadership roles as Principal at Montgomery Coscia Greilich LLP and Director of Valuation Services at Business Appraisal Services, LLP. His extensive experience includes expert witness testimony in Federal Court as well as Texas and Michigan state courts, Commercial Reasonableness and Fair Market Value analysis related to Stark Law compliance, patent valuations, ESOP valuations, purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment testing, and 409(a) valuations.
Before specializing in business valuation, Jeffrey spent years in investment management with Merrill Lynch and Harris Trust & Savings Bank in Chicago. As a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst, he covered over 30 companies and managed client portfolios for high-net-worth individuals, plan sponsors, foundations, and corporations. This investment background gives him a unique perspective on what drives business value and how buyers and investors evaluate companies.
Jeffrey is a frequent guest on podcasts and shows discussing business valuation, succession planning, and exit strategies. He is a CFA Charterholder, a globally recognized designation requiring four years of professional experience and the successful completion of three rigorous examinations. He holds an MBA in Finance and Economics from Loyola University Chicago and a BS in Finance from Eastern Illinois University.
